Halo, Whats This Then A New Map Pack?

Yes I know I have used that joke before but hey! Anyway Halo 3’s first of a string of down-loadable content will be available from 11th December. The ‘Heroic Map Pack’ will feature 3 new multiplayer maps each promising to have a different type of playing experience. This is what the press release says! Standoff’s symmetrical valley, with its entrenched bases and fields of boulders is ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types, while Rat’s Nest’s vast, labyrinthine passages bring something new to the “Halo” multiplayer experience: an indoor vehicle paradise, strongly influenced by the Campaign mode, ideal for big team battles. Finally, Foundry is the ultimate Forge map – players can edit every single object in this voluminous industrial warehouse, place stairways, walls, bridges and tunnels to create an entirely new play space and build almost any kind of map they can think of. The whole thing will cost 800 MS points upon release or be free in Spring 2008 when the second map pack is released. Who You Gonna Call? Not Zoofly!

Those of you that have seen that gameplay trailer of the supposed Ghostbusters game from Zoofly can now rest assured that isn’t the game that is being released. Sierra Entertainment are now bringing the franchise to the video game market in autumn next year. Based on the much loved movies the game will see the reforming of the original cast to supply the voice overs. When asked recently whether a new third film for the series was on the way, Dan Akroyd said “Not at the moment, we are concentrating on putting everything into the video game.”

The game will see the cast return in their former glories before they got all old a doughy! Aparantly Ghostbusters: The Video Game is a new story penned by the original creators but the screen shots suggest a revisit of some of the more famous scenes from the original movie. We will keep you posted as and when we get any more info in the mean time there is an official website for the game. http://www.ghostbustersgame.com/

Let’s Play!

News reaches us that Play.com has taken it upon itself to relight the damp fires of a UK games expo. Since trade show ECTS died a death there has been a major lack of any kind of Expo in this land. The on-line retailer will be starting its new Play.com Live event at Wembley Stadium over the weekend of Saturday 16th March 2008. The show will be open to the public and whilst other entertainment industries will be represented, games will be the shows main focus. Gian Luzio, Play.com’s head of games, told industry mag MCV “The chasm left by the lack of a UK games spectacle has been clear for all to see. E3 and TGS are nowhere near as much fun for consumers as this will be.” A bold claim indeed! Prices for the event have been kept deliberately low with adult ticket being £9 for a day pass or £16 for a weekend ticket. We will bring you more details as we get it.
