Cash Effect

More news springs from EA about in-game DLC for Mass Effect 2. ‘The Cerberus Network’ is an in-game portal that will keep players updated about the Mass Effect universe through DLC and news.

Some gaming press have been quick to cry that EA are trying to put a stop to the pre-owned market by introducing in-game DLC like ‘The Cerberus Network’ and by adding single-use unlock codes that come included in retail and digital versions of the game worldwide. This may certainly add to the perceived value of buying the game new but second-hand users will still be able to access the content through a one-time, in-game purchase of a new activation code, although this is dependant on signing up for an EA account.

Officially ‘The Cerberus Network’ is a conduit for players to receive bonus content as well as daily messages and news on upcoming releases for Mass Effect 2 for no extra charge, which is very decent of them don’t you think?

Dr. Ray Muzyka, co-founder of BioWware mused, “The Cerberus Network augments and extends the rich universe of Mass Effect 2, We’re thrilled to be able to reward loyal BioWare and Mass Effect fans with ongoing, high quality content and provide a direct channel for our players to dive deeper into the intriguing lore of Mass Effect.” Well, let us hope they provide more DLC than the promised episodic DLC that was to bridge the gap between the first and second games of the trilogy eh?

Players who access ‘The Cerberus Network’ will receive the first DLC pack from launch day (January 29th UK) and included in this pack is a mission that introduces Zaeed, a rugged and deadly gun-for-hire who is recruited to join Commander Shepard’s mission to save mankind.

A second DLC pack due for release after launch will introduce the Hammerhead, a new vehicle. This agile hover tank features improved handling on rough terrain and manoeuvres deftly in combat. The bumpf claims it is ‘a necessity’ for players travelling across harsh planetary environments throughout the galaxy, so whether that means you will be forced into having it remains to be seen!! In addition to this new vehicle, BioWare will release new missions and unique in-game items, including Cerberus Assault Armour which boost shields, health and heavy weapon ammo and the M-22 Eviscerator Shotgun.

Plenty of DLC to come then which is good although the thought of DLC on launch day leaves a slightly bitter taste. However, so far there has been no word on pricing for the ‘Serberus Network’ DLC so maybe EA will supply it all free!! Sorry for a minute there I closed my eyes and there was no war and everyone lived in peace in a utopian society, which is about as likely!

Crackdown load!!

With headings like these I should work for the Sun, I really should! Anyway, for those of you (And that includes us) who are waiting anxiously for Crackdown 2, Scottish developer Ruffian Games have confirmed that there will be a playable demo prior to the games release. Anyone who played the first game will be buying Crackdown 2 regardless but it is always nice to get your hands on a title early through Demo’s, that is unless it was the awful GT5 demo released recently.

GT5 Stalls Again!

Recent news claims Gran Turismo 5, which was originally set for a March release in Japan has yet again been delayed. Sony now say they have no fixed release date for the game. Originally muted as a launch title the constant setbacks have seen games like Forza overtake it on the inside. Speculation with G4A is that the response to the aforementioned latest demo were less than favourable. A G4A insider (Moonhead) was quoted as saying “Well that was crap wasn’t is?” Yes, yes it was!

I’m doing all I can not to comment on the GT5 demo!

You need to comment Eddie come on admit it was poo!
I am hoping it was just because it was a time trial and I am sure the game itself will be great but they have done themselves no favours with that demo.
