Gaming News – 25th Feb 2010

Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting……

Yes those kids were indeed fast as lighting. Today’s news  features three very different fighting games.

What are UFCing Looking at?

THQ have announced the release date for the latest in their rather underrated UFC series. UFC: Undisputed 2010 features a roster of over 100 real-life ultimate Fighting Championship fighters, each gloriously rendered. The gameplay mechanics have also been overhauled with a new sway and posture systems. Sway means you can dodge attacks when upright, whilst posture allows you to produce finishing strikes from every position. There are also a hole heap of new strikes, submissions, transitions and cage positions, as well as  the introduction of Southpaw stance.

There are simply loads of game modes including career, title and title defence, tournament and of course online. You can also create and customise your own character by combining move sets from numerous Mixed Martial Arts disciplines. Choose from an array of moves from all available disciplines, including newly added Sambo, Karate and Greco-Roman Wrestling.

One interesting piece of information that grabbed my attention from the press release was the “Game Is Watching You” system that tracks every action and uses this information to dictate in-game commentary, opponent intelligence and overall career progression. Depending on how well this works it could add a truly realistic feeling to the whole experience.

UFC: Undisputed 2010 is due for release on PS3 and 360 May 28th and we will bring you a review as soon as we can.

You’re The Best Around!!

Also on the THQ fighting roster is that rather neat looking  All Star Karate for Wii. A rather less serious title perhaps but still pretty cool nonetheless. You must train to defeat a villainous ninja under the (often humorous) guidance of your Sensei. Along the way you will earn new belts and fight in competitions.

Obviously being on the Wii means a choice of controls by using either using the Wiimote and Nunchuk or two Wiimotes to play out different karate moves. Add in the WiiMotion Plus to enhance the experience further in key game environments

All Star Karate aims to teach you all about the discipline and history of Karate whilst giving the player a few laughs along the way. You can become just like Daniel Larusso and catch the random buzzing flies, or just give your Sensei a slap when he starts to nod off.

As it is Wii there are multiplayer challenges so you can kick friends and families butts with your newly honed skills.

All Star Karate is down for a Spring release.

Street Fighting Man!

Capcom have released some info on the upcoming release of Super Street Fighter IV’s pre-order goodies. Early adopters in Europe and Australia can get their hands on some cool incentives.

The Super Costume pack will enable players to get Get brand new costumes for Gen, Dhalsim, Blanka, Fei Long and Guile before they go on general sale. However there are other items which you will not be able to get by any other means.

Exclusive iPhone covers featuring stylised images of fan favourite characters and an exclusive range of limited edition t-shirts featuring unique designs that will not be available anywhere else.

There is no news yet as to where each of these items will be available from but as son as we know then so shall you.

Super Street Fighter IV is out on 360 and PS3 April 30th!

So there you go, it looks like a veritable punch and kick fest coming to a console near you soon! Better get training but in the meantime here is a gallery featuring some more images of the above games!
