Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves – Sony – PSN/Move

I love all things LittleBigPlanet and this game is no different. Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves is the all-new PSN Playstation Move exclusive developed by Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (Not Media Molecule who were responsible for the original LBP” and the forthcoming sequel.) Prehistoric Moves has a brand new mini-story in which Sackboy is eaten by a giant dinosaur, ‘Evil Big Rex’. The idea being to escape from within, and then defeat him.

The gameplay is completely co-op focused as you need one person controlling the Move and at least one other using the standard dualshock 3. As the game lacks any online play, local co-op is all that remains. This makes the game very dependant on whether your partner can control sackboy. The levels are all designed to get your grey matter working overtime. Things are slightly easier for the player using the Move controller however, as everything they can use/grab is highlighted in a bright pink colour. I played through all six story levels, (Plus four bonus levels.) but the game does seem rather short even for a PSN game leaving you with a feeling that the game is pretty much a shiny-looking demo.

Do not expect to see an early glimpse of LBP2 here as Prehistoric Moves uses a restricted version of the original game. And with no online play and no support for costumes or stickers previously collected, there is a lack of settings available. There are some new features like the new music player built into the start menu. Unless you love earning virtual trophies, don’t expect to play this game more than once as there are no costumes or items to collect. Instead you can collect a total of 25 special bubbles; which earn you nothing other then a shiny gold trophy! And who wouldn’t want that right?

The game will be included in all copies of LittleBigPlanet 2. Or if you cant wait the few extra weeks, it’s available to purchase right now on the Playstation Store (Free to all Playstation Plus members.) And I must say the game is definitely worth a play, due to the fact it shows just what is capable within LBP. I do wonder as to why this was not released as DLC for the original game, but I did enjoy the new experience. If you’re a fan or not, give it ago when LBP2 releases January 21st 2011.
