Kinect To Have 19 Launch Titles

Wave goodbye to your pads!

Microsoft have announced that much-hyped, over-priced motion controller ‘Kinect’ will launch with an incredible 19 titles.

Well, when we say incredible, we mean that it is incredible that there will be so many not that there will be 19 incredible games.

Here is a list of the 19 games that will have you all flailing about your living rooms:

“Kinect Adventures” (Good Science Studio/Microsoft Game Studios) – Bundled with Kinect – 10th November. Microsofts answer to Wii-play.

“Kinectimals” (Frontier Developments Ltd./Microsoft Game Studios)  – 10th November. Adopt an animal play with it and look after it. Hmm that sounds vaguely familiar.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 The Videogame” (Electronic Arts/EA Bright Light) – 19thNovember. Now you can control Speccy in ways like never before, does this mean we will finally get a good Harry Potter game? Time will tell. You may also notice that the release date for this and the next title are not quite actual launch day titles.

“Game Party: In Motion” (Warner Bros. Interactive) –26th November. Yet another not-quite-launch title Game Party: In Motion promises to be fun for any age group with the games based on popular family favourites.

“Dance Central” (MTV Games/Harmonix)  – 10th November. Probably the most anticipated title on launch day and the one that seems to show off some of Kinect’s promise is “Dance Central.” Featuring over 90 routines and 650 dance moves and full body motion tracking this is sure to be a hit.

“Your Shape: Fitness Evolved” (Ubisoft)  – 10th November. Surprise!! It is a fitness title for Kinect who would have thought they would use the technology in that way?

“The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout” (THQ) – 10th November. Oh wait it is a fitness title, hang on did we not just say that? Still this one is designed for fat people.
“EA Sports Active 2” (EA SPORTS) – 19th November. It is a fitness title only this time with a wireless heart rate monitor to provide true fitness results.

“Zumba Fitness” (Majesco) – 26th November. Oh really? A fitness title you say? But this time with Latin and world music you say? Wow!

“Get Fit With Mel B” (Black Bean Games/Lightning Fish)  – 26th November. Gee we hope this is a fitness title featuring Mel B… YES! She was the loud-mouthed one from the Spice Girls. She will get you fit and even supply you with recipes for weight-loss.

DanceEvolution” (Konami) – 10th November. KONAMI introduces a brand new way to experience music and rhythm. Or the same way as the other dancing games for Kinect!

“Dance Paradise” (Mindscape/Smackdown Productions) – 10th November. Oh a dance game, surely this will differ greatly from all the other dancing games. Oh!

“ Kinect Sports” (Rare/Microsoft Game Studios) – 10th November. Remember Rare? Yes it was them that gave us some great games over the years, Perfect Dark, Kameo: Elements of Power, Viva Piñata! and now… well now they have produced Kinect Sports!

“MotionSports” (Ubisoft) – 10th November. Yes you guessed it, more sports games, can you see a theme in these release titles?

“Sports Island Freedom” (Konami/Hudson Soft)  – 26th November UK. Sports Island Freedom” Says the press release  “boasts ten new sporting events designed especially for the motion-control system.”  These wondrous new sports are Tennis, Boxing, Archery, Paint Ball, Beach Volleyball, Dodge Ball, Kendo, Mogul Skiing, Snowboard Cross and Figure Skating all of which have never been seen before!!!

“Kinect Joy Ride” (Big Park/Microsoft Game Studios) – 10th November. We played this and it is an awful Mariokart rip-off.

“Fighters Uncaged” (Ubisoft) – 10th November. A serious underground fighting game from Ubisoft. If we are honest we haven’t seen much about this game. It looks interesting if only slightly copied off of Moves Lets Fight: Lights Out!

“Sonic Free Riders” (SEGA) – 10th November. Sonic on a sort of  snowboard! Sway from side-to-side to control Sonic in races!

“Crossboard 7” (Konami) – 10th November. What we need is another snowboarding game featuring cute characters. Phew that’s lucky then!

So there you have it out of the 19 launch titles 3 are Dancing games, 2 are snowboarding titles, 3 are various sports packages and a massive 5 are fitness titles.

So really if you say that the chances of anybody buying more than one of each style of game are very limited then the choice is greatly reduced. Kinect launches for £130 with Kinect Adventures and we cannot believe that it has pre-sold units in the masses.

I have a friend who has pre-ordered it not to play the games but to search though his movies with his fingers. I do that when I flick through my Blu-ray collection and it cost me, well nothing!
